Cardboard on a concrete floor
The single most reliable silverfish habitat we find is cardboard boxes stored directly on a concrete slab in a closet or garage. Concrete wicks moisture, cardboard holds it, and the glue in the box is food. Getting stored paper up onto shelving and into plastic bins does more than any treatment we could apply.

Are they damaging anything?
They damage paper, books, photographs and stored documents, and they contaminate dry goods. They do not bite and they do not carry disease.
Why are they only in one room?
Because that is where the humidity is. A bathroom without extraction, a laundry, or a closet on an exterior wall. The room tells you where the moisture problem is.
